Business Assistance & Start Up
The Alaska Small Business Development Center (SBDC) which is hosted by the University of Alaska and funded in part by the US Small Business Association, has assisted businesses by providing free, confidential technical business assistance and low-cost business training in Alaska for twenty years. The Alaska SBDC measures its success by the number of new business start-ups, counseling hours, jobs created and capital infusion.
Bryan Zak, the Southwest Regional Director for the Alaska SBDC has already seen significant results impacting the lives of community members from the services provided through the Homer office of the Alaska SBDC. These results are reported on a quarterly basis to the Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor.
The mission of the Alaska SBDC is to foster, promote and assist the growth and development of small businesses in the state of Alaska through a multi-faceted business assistance program.
SBDC offers FREE, confidential, one-on-one counseling designed to provide practical and useful information to small business owners and individuals interested in starting a business. Counseling is provided in the following specialized areas:
Source of Capital
Accounting & Records
Financial Analysis/Cost Control
