Clean up day

Clean Up Day 2011 was a sweeping success!

This year's Annual Chamber Clean-up Day was a huge success with 722 bags of trash, including 88 bags of recyclables, collected by members of the Homer community.

Some other fun facts: Among the many things brought in were a few mattresses, and a bunch of tires and tire rims! All participants were treated to free hot dogs thanks to the Kachemak Bay Lions Club, and beverages from Pepsi and Coca-Cola.

Thank you to the many Kachemak Bay rotary Club volunteers, Major Hornaday, our recycling team: Dale Banks, Samuel and Blaise Banks, Ken Bergman, and to all of the wonderful volunteers who made this year such a great success!  A huge thank you to Alaska Waste for the delivery and use of the dumpster and to the Homer Landfill and Moore & Moore Services for the delivery and use of the recycling bins. A special thanks to the Kenai Peninsula Borough and Alyeska Tire for the trash bags for participants. Every year the Kachemak Bay ions Club donates youth bikes and provides a bar-b-q for the participants - we sure appreciate all you do for the community.
