2nd Annual Junior Birder Program
Results
of the 2nd Annual Junior Birder Program
- 25 Junior Birders participated
- Six of the 25 Junior Birders also
participated in 2008
- Junior Birders were between the ages of 3
and 10
- Junior Birders were from Homer, Soldotna,
Sterling, Anchorage and Fairbanks
- 13 Junior Birders attended the Awards
Ceremony
- Prizes included an oystercatcher patch, a
certificate and the Guide to the Birds of
Alaska
Junior Birder Badge Requirement:
- Attend the Junior Birder Lab on Friday
at the Islands & Ocean Visitor Center. Here
Kids will be given the form that they
are required to have program
leaders sign before the end of the weekend.
- Attend both a Family Bird Walk and a
Family Birding Station on Saturday.
- Attend at least one other
family-friendly Shorebird Festival
activity during the
Thursday-Sunday weekend.
- Attend the Junior Birder Badge Awards
Ceremony OR provide the necessary contact
information
for the Shorebird Festival
to mail the badge. Information should be
given to the front desk at the Islands &
Ocean Visitor Center by 5pm on Sunday, May
10th. This information may also be mailed to
the Shorebird Festival, 201 Sterling
