Homer Chamber Mixers

Chamber Mixers are available to Chamber Business Members to host, and offer a great way to showcase your business or the service you offer. Mixers are also an important social network between Homer business owners and managers.

Mixers are intended for Chamber members, invited guests, your clientele and persons interested in joining the Chamber. This guideline is intended to introduce you to the Mixer Program and give you ideas to help get the most out of your Mixer.

Responsibilities

Mixers are held once a month and average approximately 40-60 people in attendance. Mixer attendance must be free to all Chamber members. The Chamber prefers they be held on Friday evenings as poor attendance may occur if held on other days and times. Mixers last two hours and the business hosting the Mixer is, at a minimum, expected to provide refreshments, an overview of their business operation, a tour of their facility and introduction of staff (if appropriate).

Transportation must be provided by the Mixer host if special transportation is needed, such as a Mixer taking place across the Bay. As special features such as door prize giveaways, games, entertainment or recreation activities often attract higher attendance, we encourage you to plan even more for your Mixer. This will help to make it enjoyable and more memorable to other business owners.

Fees

The fee to host a Mixer is $100.

The fee is used strictly to cover the real expenses incurred in the promotion of the Mixer. The fee is due in advance and is not refundable if the Mixer is canceled within the same month.

Activities

The Chamber will provide the following Mixer promotion activities:

  • One to two weeks before your Mixer, we will send out press releases to local news sources to alert the public about your Mixer.
  • Announcement in the Chamber newsletters, mailings and at Chamber meetings.
  • One week before Mixer, Chamber will mail out postcard invitations to announce your Mixer to Chamber members, Homer City Council members and Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly members.
  • The week of the Mixer the Chamber will run a paid ad in one local newspaper of your choice to announce your Mixer.
  • A Chamber staff member will be on hand shortly before the Mixer begins to greet guests, provide name badges, and introduce you at the Mixer.
