Dear Homer Business Owner

Dear Business Owner,

Thank you for your interest in joining the Homer Chamber of Commerce. The mission of the Chamber is to promote cooperative economic development that preserves the essence of the community while enhancing the quality of life. The Chamber is a non-profit, membership based organization which is run by a 13 member Board of Directors and administered by four, full time paid staff. The operating budget is membership dues, fundraisers and a marketing grant from the City of Homer.

Why should you join?

Community! We have all chosen Homer for different reasons, but it usually boils down to a desire to live in a community that is beautiful, still small enough to care, yet offers life-enhancing extras like performing, visual and musical arts, and a myriad of recreational activities.

Being a part of the Chamber means you belong to the only dynamic general business organization in Homer offering a great way to meet fellow business people and local decision makers. This gives you a voice and helps you stay involved in current issues that affect your business - at the same time the Chamber is marketing Homer and your business to the world via our websites, www.homeralaska.org, www.homermairinetrades.com; the 120,000 Visitor Guides we print and distribute annually and ads we purchase in The Official Alaska State Vacation Planner, Marine Trades Magazines, Alaska Magazine, Fishermen's News and others!

In addition we offer,

  • Networking and Marketing through Chamber events, newsletter inserts, membership mailings, website advertising, and event sponsorship
  • Representation via phone, mail and website inquiries to people wishing to visit, move to or do business in the community
  • Representation in the Visitor Information Center and at the Homer Airport of your business or service (additional fee)
  • Regular newsletter updating members on events and important business issues
  • Free listing on the Chamber web site www.homeralaska.org with the option of a link to your web site (additional fee)
  • Monthly Chamber Mixers to showcase member's businesses and the services offered
  • Volunteer opportunities to address issues important to your community
  • Representation at out-of-town promotions of the area; i.e. trade shows, conferences and more

The Chamber community can effectively make decisions to direct the future of the community if they work together and keep others informed of the needs, and priorities important to business. At the beginning of each year the Chamber Board has a planning retreat to prioritize the issues and set the strategic plan of work for the organization. Member input is requested in this process.

Thank you for considering membership in the Chamber of Commerce. If you have any questions, feel free to call the Chamber office at 235-7740.

Sincerely,

Monte Davis
Executive Director
