Homer Angler Wins the 19th Annual Homer winter king salmon tournamentWinter King Salmon TournamentThe 19th Annual Winter King Tournament was held on Sunday, March 18, after a one day weather delay. The harsh winter kept our angler count low at 473 but we had 132 boats with a total catch of 97 fish. It was a winning day for angler Emmitt Trimble of Anchor Point, who landed the biggest salmon while fishing on the Serenity with Captain Joe Isenhour. Emmitt's fish weighed in at 34.85 lbs winning $9,933 in cash for his fish. And Captain Isenhour won $20,588 in Boat Side Bets. Second place winner was Patrick J Marre of Wasilla who won $6,622 fishing on the Thunder Bay with Captain Rich Bagley who won $5,138 in Boat Side Bets. Total prize payout awarded to the top 10 finishers was $35,475. Boat side bet winners took home $29,288, totaling overall $64,763 in cash prizes and over $15,200 in merchandise prizes.
