Homer Garden Club's 11th Annual Gardeners' Weekend
The 11th annual Gardeners' Weekend, sponsored by the Homer Garden Club, is Saturday, July 29 and Sunday, July 30th. The festivities include a nationally-recognized keynote speaker, garden-gate entry into some of Homer's finest gardens, and a lively reception at the Bear Creek Winery.
The weekend's keynote is the entertaining and energetic garden talk-show host, Ciscoe Morris, a certified arborist and master gardener. He will speak at 6:00 pmon Saturday in the Islands and Ocean Visitor Center. His presentation is titled Everything isGoing to Pot - designing long lasting, beautiful container gardens".
Sunday, July 30th, from 10 am until 5 pm, five exceptional gardens, selected to offer the full breadth of gardening possibilities found in and around Homer, including perennials, artful containers and window boxes, forested wonderlands, water features and a working farm complete with animals will be on display.
A closing reception at Bear Creek Winery will feature comradery with fellow gardeners, wine tasting, hors d'oeuvres, door prizes and music provided by members of the Kenai Peninsula Orchestra. Tickets for the talks, tours and reception go on sale July 1st at The Homer Bookstore.
