Don't forget to check the tides! Kachemak Bay's tides are the second largest in the world, with an average vertical difference between high and low waters of 15', and an extreme of 28'. Tidal currents can be very strong, creating rapids in narrow passages such as the entrances to Halibut Cove and Tutka Bay lagoons.
