COVID 19
Statement from the Director of Public Relations and Marketing, Derotha Ferraro, at South Peninsula Hospital:
"COVID-19 is at a very high transmission rate in the general Homer area. Positivity rates at the SPH testing center are over 17%. Please help keep the community safe by encouraging covid safe practices and getting tested at the first sign of symptoms, or 6 days after exposure to a known positive person. There is a testing site open Monday through Friday 9AM-5PM. Thank you for posting the attached flyers for the safety of your staff, guests, and community."
With the high volume of visitors and locals coming into the Visitor Center, we want to lessen the chance of spreading the COVID virus in Homer. Therefore, at the Chamber office we have reinstituted COVID Policies for those entering the Visitor Center and for our staff & volunteers which include the following:
Requesting face coverings when entering the Visitor Center.
Keep at least 6 feet separation from unrelated groups.
Doors & windows will remain open as much as possible for better airflow.
A maximum of 15 people will be allowed in the Visitor Center at one time
Common areas will be sanitized more frequently.
If you would like some COVID 19 signs for your business, we have them at the Chamber office for free. We have ordered larger posters and stickers and hope to have those available for you soon. Another good resource for you is the Tool Kit that DHSS has created that allows you to create and print your own signs. Please use this link to access that Tool Kit:
