In July, Homer, Alaska, comes alive with beautiful and fragrant peonies during the annual Homer Peony Celebration. Dubbed the "City of Peonies," Homer boasts 25 flourishing Peony Farms, each radiating with unforgettable scents and sights. The extended summer days, combined with the chill of glacier-fed breezes and fertile soils, create the perfect environment for these flowers to bloom more vividly. Experience these magnificent blossoms and peony-themed art exhibitions, products, and special events. 

Did you know peonies are the number one flower brides prefer and the second most popular flower worldwide? Maturing in July, a time when fresh-cut peonies are unavailable anywhere else, Alaskan peonies are shipped worldwide. Florists highly seek them in the lower 48 states.  

Take the chance to visit some of the most beautiful peony farms in the world, including the Alaska Beauty Peony Co-Op, Alaska Perfect Peony, Diamond Ridge Peonies, and Scenic Place Peonies, all offering farm tours. Special accommodation reservations can be booked through the Homer B&B Association. 

Peonies on Pioneer Self-Guided Walking Tours 

Take a self-guided walking tour in town where more than 20 peony gardens are sprinkled throughout Pioneer Avenue in Downtown and Old Town, Lake Street, and Sterling Highway. Pose for a photo at the Peony Photo Board on Pioneer Avenue to send or post to friends and family.
