Each summer, from July through mid-August, Homer bursts into bloom with stunning, fragrant peonies. With 24 flourishing peony farms, the breathtaking sights and scents create an unforgettable experience. Thanks to long summer days, glacier-fed breezes, and fertile soils, Homer produces some of the most sought-after peonies in the world.

Peonies are the #1 choice for brides and the second most popular flower worldwide—right behind roses! Because Alaska’s peonies mature in July and early August, a time when fresh-cut peonies are unavailable elsewhere, they are in high demand by florists across the Lower 48 and beyond.

Visitors from all over are planning family vacations, garden club tours, and group trips to experience the magic of the Peony Celebration. The 2025 Program Schedule, Bloom Report, and Pioneer Peony Walking Tour Map will be available by June 1, 2025.

Peonies on Pioneer Self-Guided Walking Tours 

Take a self-guided walking tour in town where more than 20 peony gardens are sprinkled throughout Pioneer Avenue in Downtown and Old Town, Lake Street, and Sterling Highway. Pose for a photo at the Peony Photo Board on Pioneer Avenue to send or post to friends and family.
